How do I get started?
JUST CALL OUR OFFICE! 563-920-5427
Our first priority is to help you figure out what service(s) will be the best fit for your family. If you are diapering a newborn or welcoming a baby to your home, we will deliver the "pre-arrival" (36 diapers at no charge) to your home two weeks before the baby is due. Any other items you need will be delivered at that time. We'll teach you how to diaper a baby and go over any questions you might have. We then wait for your call to say the baby has arrived, at which time your regular service and billing begins. We request that you contact us within 4 weeks of the "pre-arrival" delivery to begin service. Additional support - in person, over the phone, or via email - is available along the way. Our goal is to make this a simple process so both parents and baby will enjoy diapering.
Initial payment is due on or before delivery of the pre-arrival, and covers the first month of service. The start up kit (diaper hamper and liner bags) needs to be purchased at this time as well.
How does the diaper service work?
Our washing system utilizes a hospital-grade sterilization system (Silver Ion technology) to ensure the sterility of every load – not just at washing, but for 30 days after washing! Think of how a load of laundry will “go stale” and need to be re-washed if you forget it in the washer for a few days… That is due to odor-causing bacteria that cling to your laundered clothes. This problem is eliminated by our system! Silver Ions stay in the fabrics we wash for 30 days, forming a growth-inhibiting barrier that breaks down the cell walls of any bacteria and viruses that try to invade. For those of you wondering, as I initially did, about the safety of added silver ions to fabrics that we wear, rest easy. The technology is so effective and widely accepted that it has become the chosen method of many hospital laundry rooms - silver ions are even used directly on severe burns in hospital burn units to prevent infection! In addition, our system uses oxygen and peroxide to lift away dirt and odors – eliminating the need for harsh detergents. The result? Softer, fluffier diapers with no detergent residues to irritate sensitive skin – and no disposal of detergent-filled rinse water into the environment.
Diaper Service is a weekly pickup and delivery of fresh, pure diapers to your home.
Put the optional Citrus Circle into the lid compartment of the hamper. A Citrus Circle is a non-toxic deodorizing disc that can be placed right in the hamper. Each disc lasts about 4 weeks. We provide 2 Citrus Circles to customers with the pre-arrival delivery. Additional Citrus Circles may be purchased when needed. Baking powder also works as a non-toxic deodorizer – just sprinkle it liberally into the hamper to neutralize odors. It won't damage the diapers but will help with the smell.
Take soiled diapers off baby and toss them into the bag/hamper. If there is solid poo (which won’t happen until your little one begins eating baby food), shake it into toilet as this will reduce hamper odor and diaper staining. Using the bio-liners provided with your start-up kit makes this a snap – as the poo will adhere to the liner, and the liner is biodegradable (so you can flush it right down the toilet). No need to dunk or soak diapers in the toilet!
The night before your delivery day, remove the hamper liner of soiled diapers. If there is anything you want us to know (such as adding or removing items to the service or purchasing BioLiners or diaper covers) secure a note to the outside of the bag or give us a call. Likewise, payments should be attached to the outside of the bag (unless we have made advanced arrangements to keep a credit card on file).
Place the bag on your doorstep for exchange. We'll be there the next day to pick up the bag and leave the freshly laundered diapers in its place. Don't worry if it's raining, we'll leave the clean diapers in a predetermined rain location, just in case. That’s it - easy as can be!
