While I personally don't use diaper pins on diapers, there are many who do - and these work well for that purpose.  They have metal sides and plastic heads, and are the standard diaper pin size.

My favorite use for these pins is on socks -
we pin pairs together before they go into the wash. 
It is such a time-saver!  Each child is assigned a different color, so my 2, 3, and 5-year old can easily sort out their socks on their own.  To make the system really work, keep a magnet in each sock drawer and teach the kids to always put the pins on that magnet when they take the pin out of a clean pair of socks.  The way that kids are naturally drawn to magnets makes that an easy task!  Then each child is responsible for repinning their socks before they go down the laundry shoot (older children or Mama helps younger children who can't manipulate the pins yet).   Anyone who gets lazy about that can be put in charge of folding and sorting the laundry for a day or two, and it's amazing how good the memory becomes.  :-)
